To the Parent/Guardian and USBC Youth Bowler:

  1. IT’S A GAME . . . . ! ! ! itsagameitsagameitsagameitsagameitsagameitsagame
  2. A copy of official USBC rules shall always be available to a Parent/Guardian who wishes to study them. Kent Bowl USBC shall be handled according to those rules.
  3. IF SCORES ARE NOT WRITTEN DOWN ON THE RECAP SHEET, A ZERO SHALL BE GIVEN TO THE BOWLER(S).
  4. Fouls at the line will count. If the foul lights are found to be inoperable and the center cannot get them working, then a parent or representative agreeable to each team shall oversee the foul line and agree on any fouls called.
  5. This is bowling, not football or baseball. No kicking, hitting or slapping of the equipment (or each other . . .). Violations of conduct shall progress from a warning to loss of score to sitting out for one to two weeks. All actions will be followed pursuant to USBC rules on discipline and appeal.
  6. Entry into the King of the Hill competition is at the Coach’s discretion, based on ability and attitude. Any bowler chosen for the monthly tournament may be removed from that tournament for cause if the Coach believes the bowler’s actions warrant such removal.
  7. No food or drink down in the settee/bowling area. No video games or other outside activities are acceptable after practice starts. This includes headphones!
  8. Youth bowler absence from the lanes when it is their turn to bowl can result in the bowler getting a zero for that frame. Additional absences can result in a zero score for the game.
  9. No post-bowling will be allowed, except within 24 hours of league, and not during the last two weeks of each session.(Arrangements MUST be made in advance with Gail for all POSTBOWLS) No pre-bowling will be allowed for the final position round in each session. See Prebowl instructions.
  10. Information on tournaments, including who is chosen each month for the King of the Hill tournament, will be posted on the bulletin board behind lanes 5-6. Appropriate maps to get to event locations will be made available as well.
  11. Because it is a game (see rule #1), I ask that both the Parent/Guardian and the Youth Bowler realize that a bad frame or game will not result in the end of the world. To that extent, I energetically ask the Parent/Guardian to refrain from becoming the equivalent of a ‘Little League’ parent that we read so much about. We have a sport here where you throw heavy objects and hit things and my coaching philosophy is not so much to identify things that are wrong as much as to point out those things that don’t work for that individual bowler.
  12. Awards at the end of each session are determined by bowler scores, and after that, in the case of tie or duplication, by the Coach and/or the Parent’s Award Committee, should such a group have been formed.
  13. Promotion between divisions is at the discretion of the Coach.
  14. Teams must have chosen a team name by the end of the 2nd week of league or the Coach will have the discretion to make up a suitably obnoxious name that will apply until the team members are embarrassed enough and pick their own name.
  15. Payment of weekly fees and tournament entries are due as announced/posted unless special arrangements are made. Non-payment of weekly dues for two weeks will result in no bowling starting the third week and will continue until paid or arrangements are made.
  16. Team money folders are to be checked by the team captain for content and given to the league Secretary (Gail) by the end of the fifth frame of the first game. (Parents can help with this)
  17. Speaking of payments . . . USBC rules specifically prohibit youth bowlers from being offered or accepting money for their accomplishments. Parents, friends, bowlers, DO NOT make offers of money in a bowling center, or during league or tournaments. (such as giving a bowler money for making a strike, etc.)
  18. Bowlers will carry their sanction cards with them to all Youth USBC events or risk being turned away. HANG ON TO YOUR SANCTION CARD! Your Sanction card will be arriving at the address given on your registration form.
  19. In order to get the discount for practice bowling, both the Discount card and the Youth Sanction card MUST be presented.
